Recently I saw someone define “Christian nationalism” as essentially two beliefs: 1) nations are good things, and 2) nations should honor God. Based on that definition, do you think the person saying this is opposed to Christian nationalism, or in favor? Likewise I have seen someone define “winsomeness” as Christian kindness. Same question: would someone who defines winsomeness in that way have positive things to say about it, or critical things?

These two instances are part of a more general tendency I’ve seen where, when asked for definitions of loaded language, people will respond by naming a virtue.
