A few weeks ago I posted this to X.

The replies were, as the kids say, a dumpster fire. At least 90% of the people who responded to this corrected my mistaken desire for Christianity Today to succeed. Many added that they didn’t want me to succeed either (in more colorful vernacular). I quickly muted notifications on the post, but not before I got the message.

I meant what I said about Christianity Today. I like what CT tries to do. As I said in the post, I especially like that it’s something distinctly evangelical in a media industry that conspicuously lacks evangelical institutions. I’ve happily published with them. I would do so again.

The problem with CT—the same problem I think they’ve had for years—is that nobody can tell you what they’re really about.
